Lesson #3: Biggest Rule of Clothes

Fit. Fit. Fit. Fit. Fit. The biggest rule of clothing is to make sure it fits. When picking what clothes stay in your closet and deciding what size shirt or pant to buy, always keep fit in mind. A bad fit will destroy perfectly good outfit.

While there are many rules out there on good fit, some basic rules I abide by are:

  • Clothes should not look baggy nor should they feel tight
  • Shirts, jackets, etc. should be the right length: sleeves should not cover your hand
  • Pants should not be too long when you stand nor too short when you sit

Here is a detailed e-book on appropriate fit.
